What is a tankless water heater?
A tankless water heater, also known as "On-Demand Water Heater", will only heat the water when there is demand, or flow, through the unit. There is a heat exchanger inside the unit with a burner, small passageways, and some type of flow detection switch. The unit triggers the burner and with the smaller water waterways the water is quickly heated to the desired temperature before leaving the unit when the flow starts. As there is not a large tank of water that is constantly being heated, these are called tankless water heaters.
